Dear Parishioners and Friends of Holy Trinity
Today, May 22, 2025, the re-installation of the restored Rose Window at Holy Trinity began. The windows are transported in small sections from the studio, and then they are carefully removed from the van and hoisted piece by piece to the top of the scaffold. They are then replaced in the concrete frame of the window. Reinstalling is slower than removal, as each section must be placed, fitted, and then sealed. The window should be reinstalled entirely sometime next week. This will include a UV-protective screen that helps protect the windows from adverse weather, such as hail, and the powerful northern sun. The colours of the glass (see below in the pictures) are vibrant, and one can see the shiny new leaded frames.
Once the Rose Window is installed, we will move the scaffold to the south facade of the Church so that the sanctuary windows can be removed and repaired. We are grateful to everyone who has, so far, been supportive and generous. Once the south facade is repaired, we will assess what windows will be removed and restored next.
If you would still like to donate towards this project, we would be grateful. You can make donations HERE. The entire project is estimated to cost approximately R2.5 million.
We will continue to update you on the progress. Feel free to come and see the work and the restored Rose Window! May God bless you.
