Progress of the Rose Window

On Thursday, 3 April 2025, I popped in to the studio of ArtGlass in Pretoria to see the progress of the renovation of the Rose Window from Holy Trinity. Large parts of the window have been restored, the biggest panel, in the middle, is looking magnificent (see the picture). Each piece of glass has been removed, cleaned and then set back in a new lead frame. After the window has been rebuilt, the glass and lead frame are polished. The work takes time but we want to make sure that the window will be able to endure another 90 years after this restoration. It is my hope that when the Rose Window is reinstalled - hopefully in the near future! - we will, at the same time, be able to remove the three beautiful panels above the sanctuary so that the work of restoration can begin.

Again, I would like to thank all those who have made a donation towards the restoration of the windows. We still need to raise about R2.1million to complete the work and so we rely on your love for the windows and generosity to help us save them. If you would like to make a donation, please do so through this website.

May God bless you! Fr Russell Pollitt SJ
