Saint Andrew
The Apostle of Faith and Mission

This exquisite stained glass artwork honours Saint Andrew, one of the first apostles called by Jesus and a steadfast figure in the early Christian Church. Recognised as the patron saint of fishermen, singers, and several countries, including Scotland, Saint Andrew holds a special place in the hearts of the faithful.
The window’s vibrant colours and intricate details bring to life his serene yet resolute presence. Clothed in green robes, symbolising hope and renewal, he holds a book of scriptures, representing his unwavering dedication to spreading the Gospel. The inclusion of the cross in the background is a nod to the X-shaped cross (St. Andrew’s Cross) upon which he was martyred, signifying his ultimate sacrifice for his faith.
This window not only honours the life of Saint Andrew but also serves as a source of inspiration, reminding us of the courage and devotion required to live out our faith. As part of our restoration project, we aim to preserve the beauty and significance of this piece, ensuring that its light and message continue to uplift and inspire generations to come.
A Prayer to Saint Andrew
O Glorious Saint Andrew,
You who joyfully left everything to follow Jesus Christ,
Help us to have the same courage and faith in our own lives.
Intercede for us, that we may bear witness to the Gospel with humility and strength.
Guide us to trust in the Lord’s plans, even in moments of sacrifice and challenge.
Saint Andrew, faithful apostle and martyr, pray for us and lead us closer to Jesus.
Amen.
