The Ascension and the Prophetic Mission

Sanctuary - Right Window

The right sanctuary window of Holy Trinity Church depicts the Ascension of Christ and the continuation of God’s work through prophetic missions. This window captures the culmination of Christ’s earthly ministry and the faithfulness of His followers, who carried His message to the world.

At the top, God the Father is enthroned in glory, surrounded by the Chi-Rho and Alpha and Omega symbols, representing Christ’s eternal kingship and divine nature. Below Him, the Holy Spirit descends in the form of a dove, emanating rays of divine light that bless and guide the Church. Angels in vibrant robes encircle the scene, symbolising heavenly worship and the divine presence that accompanies the faithful.

The central panels depict the Ascension of Christ. Jesus, clothed in red robes of sacrifice and triumph, extends His arms in blessing as He rises to heaven. Surrounding Him are angels and disciples, gazing upward with reverence and awe. This powerful moment symbolises Christ’s glorification and the promise of His return, inspiring hope and devotion in all who witness it.

In the lower panels, the story of Elijah’s ascent to heaven in a chariot of fire is vividly portrayed. The prophet is taken up by the fiery horses, while Elisha looks on in wonder, receiving the prophetic mantle to continue God’s work. This imagery reflects the continuity of God’s mission, entrusted to faithful servants across generations.

This window is a visual testament to the eternal reign of Christ and the call to discipleship. Its intricate artistry and theological depth invite worshippers to reflect on their role in God’s mission. Restoring this magnificent piece will ensure its legacy continues to inspire future generations in their journey of faith.
