Saint Simon
The Zealous Apostle

This elegant stained glass window pays tribute to Saint Simon, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. Often referred to as Simon the Zealot, he is remembered for his deep devotion to Christ and his missionary work in spreading the Gospel to distant lands.
In this depiction, Saint Simon is shown holding a saw, a symbol of his martyrdom, as tradition holds that he was martyred by being sawn in half. The book in his hand signifies his role in spreading the teachings of Christ. Dressed in green robes, a colour representing hope and renewal, Saint Simon’s image inspires steadfast faith and commitment.
Though little is recorded about his life, Saint Simon’s unwavering zeal for the faith and willingness to follow Christ’s mission to the ends of the earth remind us of the courage and dedication required of all disciples.
A Prayer to Saint Simon
O Glorious Saint Simon, you were a cousin of Jesus and a devoted follower as well. Obtain for us the grace to be willing to give our lives for Christ and to labor for the freedom and peace that only God can give
Amen
